Rosberg Victorious in Mexican Grand Prix
The first Grand Prix held on Mexican soil since 1992 saw Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg earn his fourth victory of the season, outlasting runner-up and teammate Lewis Hamilton by 1.5 seconds after starting from the pole position. The win over Hamilton denied the newly crowned F1 season champion a chance at tying the Formula One record of 13 wins in a season. Crowd favorite Sergio Perez of Mexico drove his Force India car to an eight place finish in front of a loud and boisterous crowd.
Ricciardo Contemplates Future in U.S.A. if Red Bull Pulls Out of F1
Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo, faced with the possible pull-out from Formula One by his team after this season, says he is open to the possibility of racing in the United States. Dale Earnhardt Jr. has stated that Ricciardo would be able to obtain a car in the Xfinity Series without any difficulty, and the Australian pilot is saying the idea of living and racing in the U.S. is an appealing alternative to the Grand Prix circuit, which nonetheless remains his first choice.
Red Bull Could Run ‘Unbranded’ Engines in 2016
Talks continue to try and work through the poisonous relationship between Red Bull and its current engine provider Renault to try to salvage the team’s place in F1 next season. The latest possibility being speculated on is the use of ‘unbranded’ Renault engines in the Red Bull cars in 2016. The engines could either be rebranded with another name or run without any name on them at all.
Gordon Takes Martensville Sprint Cup Race
In an eventful NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Martensville, Jeff Gordon came out on top while behind him Matt Kenseth came to blows with both Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski. Gordon held off a late charge by Jamie McMurray to gain his first win of the 2015 season following a restart just laps from the end. The victory gives Gordon a chance at the championship at Homestead in three weeks. Pole sitter Logano led for long parts of the first half of the race, before an incident on a restart resulted in Kenseth spinning out in front of Keselowski and later appearing to take Logano out of the race as well.
