Andrew Ranger had an up-and-down weekend at Road America, but the final result would be fairly satisfying for the #27 Wal-Mart/Tide/MiJack Conquest Racing driver. source: paddocktalk.com - Brad Gerhart Due to rather unfortunate conditions during both qualifying sessions, Ranger qualified a respectable ninth. On Friday, Ranger's teammate - Charles Zwolsman - gambled in the first session with a tire change. As a result, the Dutchman qualified third for the race. But Ranger's crew decided not to roll the dice on Friday. So, when the track conditions became even wetter on Saturday, he was locked into a mid-pack starting position. At the start of Sunday's race, Ranger had contact with another driver just a few feet before turn one. "I had contact with Power at the start when I was just trying to get by him. It might have been a little tight. I thought that I had damaged my front wing but it was okay and I was able to continue without getting it changed," Ranger said. A short time later, Ranger was involved in another racing incident. The young Canadian attempted to pass PKV's Katherine Legge, but he ended up in the gravel. The yellow flag came out. Fortunately for Ranger, the long 4-mile course at Road America played to his favor. It allowed him to get out of the gravel and into the pits for a new nose cone without losing a lap. "I was trying to get by Katherine. It is really difficult to pass at Road America and we sort of touched." Ranger caught the field and kept pressing hard.
