Colours sported on new livery are reminder he's racing for a cause. source: Torchia Communications Canadian driver Andrew Ranger, who is linked to Wal-Mart Canada and Opération Enfant Soleil through his charity work, will be connected to these organizations in another fashion during the August 25-27 Champ Car Grand Prix of Montreal race weekend. In addition to sporting the logos of his regular sponsors, Ranger's Champ Car for the Montreal event will bear the colours of Wal-Mart on the wings and side pod and Opération Enfant Soleil, which is affiliated with the Children's Miracle Network, will be prominent on the back wing and engine cover. Ranger's regular sponsors are Tide, Folgers, Kodak, Duracell, Kellogg's and Sharpie. "I really like the look of this Champ Car," said Ranger at a news conference today. "With Wal-Mart and Opération Enfant Soleil appearing on the car, it's a reminder for me that we share a common bond in wanting to help sick children who are going through some rough times get better." Alan Labrosse, the promoter of the Champ Car Grand Prix of Montreal, said the wholehearted support of the initiative by Ranger's sponsor-partners is "a fitting gesture, for which they deserve praise. They are all well aware of Andrew's efforts on behalf of the Children's Miracle Network, through such programs as the Tide @ Wal-Mart Victory Lap Charity Program. This is an opportunity to draw attention to the children and the very noble cause this represents." Wal-Mart's involvement is an extension of its ticket program in conjunction with the Champ Car Grand Prix of Montreal. Racing fans can buy a three-day ticket package that includes paddock access and a seat in the Start-Finish grandstand for just $81. Wal-Mart and the CCGP of Montreal are donating $27 - one third of the proceeds - to Opération Enfant Soleil.
