Ryan Briscoe will be making a return to the Indy Racing League after announcing a deal to race with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing for three of the remaining six events of the year, starting with Nashville. source: crash.net The 24-year-old Australian will also compete at the Milwaukee Mile and the Grand Prix of Sonoma at Infineon Raceway for the team in which he scored his career-best result of third place at Watkins Glen earlier in the year. Dreyer & Reinbold, who currently run Buddy Lazier, insisted that the deal was an attempt to move the team forward, with co-owner Dennis Reinbold not ruling out retaining current driver Buddy Lazier for the events that Briscoe will not compete in. "At this point and time, we are working towards building for the 2007 season," he said "With this in mind, we want to try different things with our team during the remainder of the season to see what we can learn for the future. "Buddy is the ultimate professional and did a great job for us this year. We will certainly continue to consider him for the future." Briscoe, who has been competing in the Grand Am Rolex Series this year and will line up with Holden Racing Team in the Australian V8 Supercar endurance races later in the year, was delighted by the deal to get behind the wheel of an IRL car again, particularly after their strong result together earlier in the year. "I'm very excited to get back in the car for the Dreyer & Reinbold Racing team-especially with the success we had together in Watkins Glen earlier this year," Briscoe said. "It will also be exciting to be competing on an oval again. I will be running select races because I have prior commitments in Australia. I am doing what I can to do both."
