Since leaving for the IRL, Patrick Carpentier has indicated that two
factors were key in his decision

One was the Indy 500. A second was to race more on ovals. But apparently,
there was another key to his decision.
Carpentier told the Toronto Star about why he chose Cheever Racing, "I really
felt wanted and welcomed, I felt I would be a great asset to the team and they
seem to feel the same way, too."
He would go on to indicate that Gerald Forsythe had offered him a contract, but
Carpentier felt it was to keep him from leaving for the IRL, rather than wanting
him back as part of the Forsythe Racing team.
