Now fully under the banner of the Champ Car World Series, the Champ Car Atlantic Championship will maintain its rich history of competitive racing with the future stars of motorsports driving a new Swift 016.a chassis design with a 2.3 liter Cosworth engine capable of producing 300 horsepower. Atlantic officials today released the details of next season's 12-race schedule that will include events in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The '06 Atlantic calendar, in its current format, will offer up races on five road courses and five temporary street circuits and it will feature at least one doubleheader race weekend for the third consecutive season. A 12th event, to be held within the United States or Canada, will be added to the series schedule and announced in the coming weeks. Continuing to serve as the training ground for the next generation of Champ Car racers, the Atlantic series will run all of its 2006 events in conjunction with the 750-horsepower machines of the Champ Car World Series. A full television broadcast schedule of all '06 Atlantic races will be announced at a later date. "Even though we just completed another exciting season of Atlantic racing, we're already looking forward to 2006," said Vicki O'Connor, Managing Director of the Champ Car Atlantic Championship.
