Heylen Completes Provisional Qualifying at an Encouraging Twelfth Place source: conquestracing.com Despite his short time with the new car, Heylen is confident he can improve his twelfth place qualifying In his first qualifying session with Conquest Racing and the new DP01 chassis, Jan Heylen (#34 Champ Car Grand Prix of Belgium / Cosworth / DP01 / Bridgestone) finished twelfth in the session with a fast lap time of 59.181 at a speed of 119.471-mph. He will look to improve his standings for the race during tomorrow's final qualifying session which will finalize the starting grid for Sunday's Mazda Champ Car Grand Prix of Portland Presented by Joe's Sports and Outdoor. With both the practice session and qualifying session on Friday, Heylen increased his confidence and comfort level with the new car. He only had one day of testing prior to coming to Portland but he has quickly found a feel for the handling of the different chassis. "As a driver you always strive to do better but give the limited time in the car, we did a decent job," said Jan Heylen. "We will be looking to improve our time tomorrow at the final qualifying. I hope the weather stays dry for that session and we can expand upon today's results." "While it isn't easy to change drivers, I am very please with the performance we had today," began team owner, Eric Bachelart. "I think that Jan was able to adapt quickly and we had a really encouraging day. We need to develop the car for Jan's driving style but that should get better with time. The team has started to develop a good rhythm with Heylen and I am confident that we will continue to improve in the future. The final grid for the Mazda Champ Car Grand Prix of Portland Presented by Joe's Sports and Outdoor will be determined after the final qualifying session on Saturday, June 9th. The green flag drops on the fourth round of the 2007 Champ Car World Series on Sunday, June 10th at 1:00 p.m. PST. The race will be broadcast live on ABC beginning at 4:00 p.m. EST.
