DAN CLARKE, #14 CTE Racing HVM/Lola/Ford-Cosworth Champ Car Starts: 8 Best Start: 6th (Portland '06) Best Finish: 6th (Portland '06) source: champcarworldseries.com Bringing Back the Momentum: Edmonton marks Clarke's second visit to Canada but his first run at the JAGflo Speedway. Clarke is eager to bring back his momentum from Portland and Cleveland to regain his title as the top rookie. The Englishman has shown his speed and running up front by running second for several laps at Portland before a tire puncture brought him into the pits costing him a few positions. He made another strong run at Cleveland by running third until the final lap of the race when he went to overtake Dominguez for second position in turn one and the two made contact. In just his first year with the series and CTE-HVM, Clarke has proven he is a contender by finishing in the top-ten three races in a row. Training for the Extra Horsepower: A strict dietary and training routine prepared Clarke for his big jump to the 750+ Champ Car racing thoroughbreds from the 240 horse-powered British Formula 3 machines he raced last year. A daily training routine consisting of swimming exercises, cardio blast, and resistance training helps keep Clarke in top shape for handling the Champ Car. To improve his fitness level a strict dietary plan keeps him healthy consisting of steamed vegetables, chicken and pasta. Dan Clarke: "I had a tough weekend in Toronto which left me just wanting to get back in the car to continue with the learning process. I'd just like to be in the car every day, as I know there's so much more to extract from it, and from me. We go from new track to new track and it's full-on from the moment I arrive. I'm getting totally immersed in it all and loving every minute. I've only seen the Edmonton track from watching last year's race on tape last week. There's only so much you can gain from this, but it's better than nothing - I'll know where the pits are at the least! As always my job is to get to grips with the track in the practice sessions, put together the best laps possible in qualifying and bring the car home with the best result I can. I'm ready for this and just want to get to Friday as soon as possible, so I can get back in my car."
