And prepares for high banks of TMS
source: irl.racing-live.com Danicamania's long Texas weekend kicked off Wednesday in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex as several hundred fans waited up to 10 hours in 90 degree (32 C) heat for a chance to meet and get an autograph from Rahal Letterman Racing driver Danica Patrick. The autograph session was required for all IndyCar Series drivers competing in Saturday night's race at Texas Motor Speedway, but Patrick dominated the news as fans lined up early in the morning to be one of the 500 that would be allowed to meet Patrick. Marlboro Team Penske driver Helio Castroneves played into mania surrounding Patrick by wearing a Danica Patrick shirt to the autograph session. Castroneves claimed the October IndyCar Series race at Texas Motor Speedway. Today Patrick and the other 21 IndyCar Series drivers will take to the 24-degree high banks of Texas Motor Speedway for the first time. Due to a NASCAR truck race Friday night, the IndyCar Series will have practice and qualifying today and then will have two final practice sessions Friday before Saturday night's race. Due to IndyCar Series testing rules, Patrick has never been on the high banks of Texas in and IndyCar. The track provides some of the most exciting - and dangerous - racing of the IndyCar Series season.
