With the opening event of the 2006 Champ Car season looming just a week away... source: paddocktalk.com Forsythe Championship Racing's Paul Tracy and Mario Dominguez completed their final preseason preparations this week "across town" on the infield road course at California Speedway in Fontana, California as many of the teams and drivers participated in the open test. The 32nd running of the legendary Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach takes place April 7-9 as Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford, but this week the focus was putting the finishing touches on car setup and team operations leading into what looks to be one of the most competitive seasons in Champ Car history. Team Manager Phil LePan "This was another very productive test for us, focusing on some new aerodynamic pieces and suspension combinations with different approaches for the differential and the dampers. We shook down the primary cars for Long Beach which can save us a lot of time during the first practice session since we'll be able to put in some quality laps right off the transporter instead of a bunch of installation laps. It was also a good opportunity for the crew to work on coordination and teamwork, and particularly a chance for Mario to get to work some more with his new engineer Michael Cannon. The test was trouble free except for a bit of high winds at the end of both days, but we accomplished exactly what we wanted." Paul Tracy, #3 INDECK Ford-Cosworth/Bridgestone/Lola "It was overall a good test. We were able to get through our test plan and had no issues throughout the two days. As usual the Ford-Cosworth was bulletproof and the Bridgestones were grippy and predictable. We were working mostly on our Long Beach car and not trying to put a Fontana qualifying lap together, so we're confident the car will be good for Long Beach." Tracy ended up with the fifth-quickest time of the two-day test with a final session lap of 52.425s.
