The Houston Chronicle is reporting that a new word may be entering the vocabulary of IRL drivers.... Danica-envy
source: paddocktalk.com The paper states that Indianapolis 500 Champion Dan Wheldon is the first to utter "jealous" words regarding Danica-mania. In the story, Wheldon is quoted as saying Danica was only part of the Indy 500's improvement in the TV ratings. "The thing with the IndyCar series right now and why we blew up NASCAR's TV numbers at the last race (Indy 500 vs. Coca-Cola 600) is the fact that our racing is so competitive," said Wheldon. "People keep saying it, and I'm sure you're getting bored with it, but there are other guys (drivers) out there other than Danica, and a lot of them are very, very good, too. Probably some of them better. I don't think it was just Danica alone that raised the (Indy 500) ratings some 40 percent. It was every one of the drivers, and it was the kind of race it was." The PaddockTalk Perspective: Dear Dan, The ratings were all about Danica. So Sorry. Signed, Tony George.
