Andretti Autosport’s
Ryan Hunter-Reay will finally have a shot at the Indianapolis 500 even if he had been knocked out the grid. He will be driving Bruno Junqueira's car at AJ Foyt Racing.
But, as it has been the case before, under
Indy 500 rules, teams can switch drivers after qualifying, with the car moved to the back of the field.

Michael Andretti and AJ Foyt's have had talks and it was decided that Hunter-Reay would take over driving duties on Foyt’s car which had been qualified in 18th. The Dallara-Honda will carry a livery combining both teams’ backers.
It is another blow to the Brazilian as it is the second time in three years that he has had to hand his car to another driver after qualifying for Indy. In 2009 he got a second Conquest Racing car into the field then had to move aside for regular driver Alex Tagliani, who had failed to qualify.
Foyt's full-season driver Vitor Meira will start 11th. Andretti also has John Andretti,
Danica Patrick and Marco Andretti in the field, but Mike Conway will be the only one not to be on the starting grid next Sunday.
