According to the rumours, the IZOD IndyCar series should welcome a new entry next season.
Gary Peterson’s AFS team, currently competing in the Firestone Indy Lights development series, is apparently seriously thinking about graduating full-time to the IndyCar series from 2011. Team AFS receives major technical support from the Andretti Autosport organization to run a Dallara-Honda Indy car in selected events. AFS has run a car last year at Infineon Raceway for Frenchman Franck Montagny, a former Formula 1 driver with team Super Aguri-Honda. This coming weekend at the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio, AFS will run the No. 27 car for British driver Adam Carroll, a former Honda F1 test driver. Rumour has it that Gary Peterson will graduate full-time to the IZOD IndyCar series starting next year with drivers Carroll and American JR Hildebrand. With the addition of Takuma Sato, we can only understand that Honda is spending a lot of money to find IndyCar rides to its former works drivers.
