The rumors about 'Why?' there will be no IRL IndyCar race at California Speedway continue to swirl. But here's a new twist source: paddocktalk.com According to a report by the Ridgecrest Daily Independent, Fontana was dropped for another reason.... apparently, "due to hefty franchise fees that reportedly exceeded ticket sales." The PaddockTalk Perspective: This is the first report to say the 'dollars' didn't make sense, but it would seem it was certainly part of the equation, but that hasn't been the primary sticking point between the two parties that the most have indicated. The publicly stated sticking point are the dates the track is willing to host a race, and the dates that the IRL's new compressed schedule will run on. They don't match up, and they couldn't agree on a compromise.
