Over the summer, heads turned when the A1 Grand Prix series included a provisional street race in San Antonio on their proposed schedule to the FIA source: paddocktalk.com An event that would have seemed to be right in line with Champ Car's stated business plan. For whatever reason, the A1 series didn't or wasn't able to proceed with the event in the city. Fast forward to today.... KSAT.com is reporting that IRL IndyCar officials, met with city and county officials and are excited about a private project that would include a 'Grand-Prix Style' venue, as well as possible stadiums for stick and ball sports. Tony George even went on record regarding this project saying, "We would be very interested in being a part of (this project)." The PaddockTalk Perspective: Once again, it sounds like San Antonio is serious about hosting a major open-wheel race. Hopefully, it will get done, and become another great open-wheel event. And depending on if it is a street race or a permanent circuit, the A1 series may get a second weekend during the winter.
