New Hampshire Motor Speedway officials confirmed on Wednesday that not only the Loudon oval would retain its two NASCAR Sprint Cup races but would also welcome back the IndyCar series in 2011.
For the 15th consecutive season, the 1.058-mile oval will host two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekends although persistent rumours had had the “Magic Mile” loose one of its date to Las Vegas.
Moving from its recent late-June date, NASCAR’s elite series makes its season debut at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday, July 17 for the LENOX Industrial Tools 301. Then the series will make its second trip to the “Granite State” on Sunday, September 25, as the SYLVANIA 300 lights up the competition for the second race in the “Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.” In addition to the two Sprint Cup Series races, the IZOD IndyCar Series will return after a 13-year hiatus. All the series' drivers will be on hand on August 14 for close wheel-to-wheel action and speeds reaching up to 200 miles per hour. This is good news for the Canadian fans as Loudon is only about a 4-hour drive from Montreal and welcomes each year thousands of spectators, especially from the province of Quebec.
