Canadian Alex Tagliani will after all take part in next week-end's Indianapolis 500 after his team, Conquest Racing, decided to put him into its second car in place of Bruno Junqueira.
Tagliani had previously failed to qualify on the first weekend having been slowed by a practice crash, before taking what looked like a safe 26th place in Saturday's session. But because of improved weather conditions, a certain number of cars that were behind on Saturday improved their speeds dramatically, so much that Tagliani was pushed outside the bubble. While he did try to go out again and improve his speed, unfortunately there were no time left for him to do so... Fortunatly for him, late on Sunday night, his team decided to pull Junqueira from the #36 car to give Tagliani the chance to race after all.
