Neel Jani has stopped short of condemning Katherine Legge for the accident which took them both out of the Grand Prix of Houston, despite being on course for a possible podium finish. source: crash.net The Swiss PKV Racing driver had run strongly in the top five for the first two-thirds of the race and was sitting in fourth when he was collected by Katherine Legge's Dale Coyne entry. The contact damaged the Red Bull-backed machine beyond repair, while also sidelining both Legge and fellow Brit Dan Clarke, who hit the rear of the stranded Coyne machine. "The car was running good, in fourth place and at a good pace," Jani sighed, "I came in for my second pit-stop, got back out and had done one lap when Katherine tried to do a very enthusiastic move on me - one which was impossible to fulfil from my point of view. I didn't even see her. She came out of nowhere and that was the end of my race." Jani had started a season-best fourth for PKV, but was passed twice in the first 16 laps when his car began to understeer on the red option tyres. He remained in sixth until the first round of pit-stops, and resumed in fifth after a swift turnaround. Five laps later, however, he was back in sixth, where he stayed until lap 52, when Will Power and Justin Wilson tangled, promoting him two places, where he remained until the clash with Legge. "It is a shame because the team worked very hard to prepare a very competitive car and I think we had a good chance at making the podium," the former GP2 racewinner said, "Now we just will go testing and work on the car before we head to Portland, which is a type of track that I am much more familiar with."
