The Andretti Green Racing driver, who finished third in the series championship standings this season, will participate under the authorization of the Japan Automobile Federation. He won't be eligible to score championship points. Kanaan, the 2004 IndyCar Series champion, won on the Twin Ring Motegi oval in April in the No. 11 Team 7-Eleven Honda-powered Dallara. This is an awesome opportunity for me to try another car in another venue." Formula Nippon evolved from the Japanese Formula 2 and Japanese Formula 3000 championships. The series utilizes a one-make Lola chassis with engines supplied by Honda and Toyota. Hideki Mutoh, runner-up in the Indy Pro Series championship this season, was a 2006 competitor in Formula Nippon. Mutoh is expected to drive in the IndyCar Series in 2008 for team Andretti Green Racing alongside Danica Patrick, Kanaan and Marco Andretti.
