Two Sheboygan County organizations were the recipients of a pair of donations from the auto racing community during the weekend's Champ Car World Series Grand Prix of Road America source: wisinfo.com - By Frank Rigas - Sheboygan Press staff Champion Auto Racing Auxiliary (CARA) donated $2,500 to the Aurora Foundation for children's health and safety programs. Road America selected the Aurora Foundation because of its affiliation with Plymouth's Valley View Medical Center, which cares for the majority of drivers injured at the racetrack. Argent Mortgage Company LLC made a $2,000 donation to the Safe Harbor Domestic Abuse Shelter of Sheboygan County. The donation was made in the name of the Toyota Atlantic Championship driver who turned the fastest lap during Sunday's race. That driver was Tonis Kasemets of Mundelein, Ill., who recorded a 2 minute, .452 second lap. Welcome and congrats Sheboygan County Administrative Coordinator Adam Payne was among the dignitaries on the grid welcoming fans to the event prior to the race. During post-race festivities Lou Gentine, president of Plymouth-based Sargento Foods Inc., presented race-winner Alex Tagliani with the champion's trophy on the starter's bridge above the track's start/finish line.
