Appointment and promotion at Sutton source: paddocktalk.com Sutton International Motorsports today announced the appointment of Rob Johnson as vice president of Sutton International Motorsports and general manager of the Grand Prix of Denver and the promotion of Jim Freudenberg, previous general manager of the Grand Prix of Denver, to chief operating officer of Sutton Motorsports Productions, a division of Sutton International Motorsports. Johnson, 38, most recently served as vice president/general manager of the Broomfield Event Center, a 6,000 seat multi-purpose arena being built in Broomfield, Colorado. Prior to his role with the Broomfield Event Center, Johnson served seven years as president of Pikes Peak International Raceway, a 1,200-acre complex in Fountain, Colorado that hosted AMA, IRL, NASCAR and USAC-sanctioned events. "This was a perfect fit to bring Rob into the Sutton International Motorsports fold," explained Jim Hancock, president of Sutton International Motorsports. "The success of the Grand Prix of Denver created opportunities for Sutton International Motorsports to move into a consulting role on new venue and event development and Jim Freudenberg is the ideal person to oversee that expansion. Fortunately, Rob was able to jump on board and with his experience at Pikes Peak International Raceway, it hasn't taken him long to get up to speed with the Grand Prix of Denver." "I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to join Sutton International Motorsports and the Grand Prix of Denver," said Johnson. "I've always been impressed by their dedication to excellence in all of their motorsports projects and their commitment to making the Grand Prix of Denver a premier event for the state."
