The 2006 Champ Car season has barely come to an end that the Mi-Jack Conquest Racing Team is already hard at work in preparation for the 2007 season. While awaiting the arrival of the new DP01 car the team will be busy with two days of testing scheduled for next week at the MSR Houston circuit. source: conquestracing.com The Conquest Champ Car team will be testing F3 Euro Series driver Guillaume Moreau and GP2 driver Alexandre Premat on November 28 and 29. Moreau of Limoges, France will get two days of testing while Premat of Juvisy-sur-Orge, France will be in the car on Tuesday, November 28. Despite having driven in different racing series, it will be the first time that they get behind the wheel of a Champ Car. Guillaume Moreau competed in the F3 Euro Series the last two seasons. In 2006, he scored six top-five finishes including two podiums and ended the season ninth in the Championship. He finished eighth in the 2005 standings scoring one victory and two podiums. The 23-year-old also competed in the French and European Formula Renault Championship from 2002 to 2004 and since 1995 the Frenchman has accumulated numerous victories in go-karting events. An F1 test driver for the Spyker Formula 1 team at the Chinese Grand Prix this year, Alexandre Premat finished third in the final standings of the 2006 GP2 Championship, behind his teammate Lewis Hamilton and Nelson Piquet Jr., obtaining eight podiums and a win. Premat also drove for the Championship winning team of France in the A1GP series last season capturing seven wins. In 2005, the 24-year-old clinched fourth place in the GP2 Championship standings with seven podiums including two victories. The Frenchman scored three wins in '04 in the F3 Euro Series and was runner-up in the Championship. That season he also won the MACAU Grand Prix and the Marlboro Masters of Zandvoort. Mi-Jack Conquest Racing co-owner Eric Bachelart is looking forward to working with and evaluating both drivers. "I'm very pleased to be giving these two young, talented, French drivers a chance to test our Champ Car. I think they will be a good fit in these cars. Alexandre has driven an A1GP car, a GP2 car and an F1 car all in one year so I am confident he will do well in a Champ Car," said Bachelart. "Guillaume might have less experience in powerful cars, although he tested a GP2 car lately, but he has proven results in F3 that allow me to think he will adapt quickly and also do well in a Champ Car. I'm anxious to see how they both perform next week."
