Media Conference and Round Table Session with Kevin Kalkhoven source: Iain Shankland Just three short weeks after Kevin Kalkhoven and Gerry Forsythe announced their acquisition to the rights for the Molson Grand Prix of Toronto, the Grand Prix Association of Toronto held a media briefing to kick off ticket sales for the July 7, 8 and 9 event. In attendance were Canadian Champ Car drivers Paul Tracy, Andrew Ranger and Honorary Canadian Jimmy Vasser. "As expected, we are fully up and running just a few weeks after acquiring the race rights from Molson," said Kalkhoven. "The Toronto stop on the Champ Car calendar is a significant cornerstone in our schedule and we have been successful in ensuring the transition was seamless. We are committed to making certain that the race maintains its high-profile status in the Toronto market and are confident that we will maximize our consumer marketing outreach for the Toronto event." "It's still one of the drivers' favorite cities to race in and it's still the place I want most to win year after year" explained Paul Tracy. Extreme confidence is being expressed that 2006 event will be no different than in years past. The passing of the rights to this race will no doubt be flawless as the Grand Prix Association of Toronto takes over the operation of the event with a compliment of the original staff from the Molson Entertainment Group. During a round table discussion with Kevin Kalkhoven, select members of the media learned the following: Just two years after Kevin Kalkhoven, Gerry Forsythe and Paul Gentilozzi purchased CART and breathed life into the series we now know as the Champ Car World Series, business is booming. "It's beyond our wildest dreams" remarked Kalkhoven. "It's been methodically planned out, and we're way ahead of where we thought we'd be. More teams are coming to the Atlantics and even more are looking at coming back to Champ Car for the 2007 season.
