This will be the fourth running of the Molson Indy Montreal as 18 of the world's best open-wheel drivers negotiate the tricky 2.709-mile layout, which is also home to the Canadian Grand Prix Formula 1 race. Rick Benjamin and Derek Daly will call the action of Sunday's 79-lap event, which is the 10th round of this year's Champ Car World Series 14-race title bout. Series points leader Sebastien Bourdais (#1 McDonald's Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) takes a 53-point lead into this weekend's race, but is being pursued relentlessly by 2003 champ Paul Tracy (#3 Indeck Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) and teammate Oriol Servia (#2 PacifiCare Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) in the quest for the Vanderbilt Cup. NBC also carried the 2005 season-opening Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach this year, marking the second consecutive year that the network had broadcast the Champ Car lidlifter. This will be the sixth event on terrestrial network television this year as four of the early-summer events were carried live on CBS. The television audience numbers steadily increased with each subsequent network broadcast, with the Molson Indy Toronto drawing over 1,000,000 households in the United States.
