After testing for Richard Childress racing this past summer at Michigan, it appeared as though Paul Tracy's NASCAR career was about to begin. Then, it all came to a halt source: paddocktalk.com But, with the 2005 Champ Car World Series season complete, Paul Tracy is in Homestead this weekend, and the Associated Press is quoting the 2003 Champ Car champ as saying, "I want to give this a try. I've made no secret about that. My ideal situation would be to run about 10 to 12 races next season, and I'm out here trying to make it happen." The PaddockTalk Perspective: Looking at NASCAR is starting to become as common place as open-wheel drivers looking towards a future in Formula One. Though Tracy has been seriously pursuing an opportunity, current Champ Car Champion Sebastien Bourdais has been pegged by NASCAR superstar Mark Martin with big potential as a NASCAR driver. The most important aspect to the revitalization of Champ Car in the United States is to keep their stars. Losing Tracy or Bourdais at the top of their craft in no way helps the series.
