"It would obviously be a big challenge." source: F1-Live.com With a lot of the teams and drivers defecting from the American CART series to the IRL for next season, the championship is still looking very slim for 2003. President Chris Pook has assured fans that more teams and drivers will be entering the series to ensure a strong line-up next year, despite the fact that there won't be a lot of well known names, such as Michael Andretti, to fly the flag. Racing Engineering is one of the interested parties currently looking into the likelihood of starting up a team next year. Alfonso de Orleans-Borbon founded the team back in 1999 with the intention of building the best outfit in the International GT Racing Series. In 2001 Racing they took a step up and participated to the new Spanish Formula 3 Championship and in their first year became champion with Ander Vilarino. Having won titles in this series, they then embarked on the new highly competitive World Series by Nissan, which has been hailed as a stepping-stone to Formula One. For the first year in the series, Racing Engineering won several races with Franck Montagny, who tested for Minardi this week, and Justin Wilson, who is in the process of securing a drive with Minardi for next season. Meanwhile, they are still in with a chance of being crowned constructors champions with the last events of the season still to be completed in Brazil next month.
