Later that evening, series officials would hand out the hardware including some very special awards. No one was more surprised than Robert when they announced he would be the recipient of the BBS Rising Star award. This award "honors the Champ Car Atlantic driver who has performed in a most competitive fashion and is a star of the future." Robert received the award based on his performance throughout the season which included one pole, one win, two fast race laps, four podiums, eight top five and twelve top ten finishes. In addition, Robert was one of only three drivers in the series to complete all 407 race laps. Presented by John Slagle from BBS of America, Inc., the award includes a custom table made from a BBS wheel with the recipient's name laser etched into the base plus a cash bonus. With the season complete, Robert is spending a week conducting a kart racing school at the Cameron Motorsports Karting Complex in Hamilton, Ontario and is planning to attend the final round of the Formula BMW USA series at Mosport International Raceway in Bowmanville, Ontario, August 23-26. Robert was the 2006 series champion.
