Road course that is, racing this weekend in Portland
source: Rocketsports Racing After a two-week break, Rocketsports Racing gears up for back-to-back race weekends as they return to the scenic road course of Portland International Raceway, Portland, Oregon for Round Four of the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford, June 17-19. Rookie Timo Glock has been making his mark in the Champ Car World Series driving the #8 DHL Global Mail/Rocketsports Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone. Currently leading the Rookie-of-the-Year standings by six points, the German is the only rookie to sit in the top ten of the Championship standings. Currently ninth overall, Glock will run at the Portland venue for the first time. Road course racing is nothing new to this former Formula One driver, who showed his capability of a strong performance in Monterrey, Mexico. Starting on the grid in the 12th spot for Round Two, he demonstrated his skills after an early spin that caused him to restart in the back of the field. Going a lap down, the rookie was able to regain his lap, while sitting as high as third, before his day came to an end with only seven laps to go when he was hit from behind. However, his efforts did not go unnoticed, Glock posted the fastest lap of the race and was rewarded a trophy at the end of the day. Glock's debut in Long Beach also demonstrated his young aptitude by starting and finishing as the highest rookie, justifying his contribution to the talented pool of drivers in this 2005 Champ Car World Series field. Running on his first oval in Milwaukee, Glock brought home his second top-ten finish in only his third Champ Car event.
