Rocketsports Racing heads west to compete in the 2005 Bridgestone Presents The
Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford season opener on the streets of Long
Beach, California for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach on April 8-10.
A fresh new look to the third-year Champ Car team, brings new faces and colors
under the Rocketsports Racing banner. A revived team rolls out two entries for
the upcoming season to be piloted by Champ Car veteran Ryan Hunter-Reay and
rookie Timo Glock.
Hunter-Reay will make his 33rd Champ Car start driving the #31 Rocketsports
Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone this weekend. The 24 year old comes off a solid
2004 season that saw him score a win for the second consecutive season and
finish in the season's top ten for the first time in his young Champ Car career.
The streets of Long Beach are favorable for the young American who started sixth
on the grid at last year's event where he drove a clean race to finish in the
top ten with a seventh-place result.
The second Rocketsports entry will be piloted by former Formula One driver Glock.
The young German has had some time in the cockpit of the #8 Deutsche POST Speed
Academy Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone during two pre-season testing that were
completed in Fontana and Sebring.
Turning heads from the moment he stepped into a Champ Car, Glock posted the
fastest (unofficial) time during the second day of testing in Sebring, posting
the only 50-second marker during the two-day test.
