Ma is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida and brings a variety of race-engineering experiences to the second year team. Most recently with Herdez Competition, Ma configured the No. 55 car, which broke team records in 2003. At age 25, Ma was the youngest engineer to take the lead on a Champ Car when he worked with Memo Gidley at Della Penna Motorsports. Ma's open-wheel race experience also includes stints with Dan Gurney All American Racers, Arciero Blair Racing and Bradley Motorsports.
"Rocketsports Racing made a strong impression in the Champ Car World Series last season and Tagliani is an intense and talented driver," said Ma, who has already set to work with Tagliani and crew. "We've had a good start to our 2004 preparations and we're confident that we can take Rocketsports to another level this season."
"This is a great opportunity to grow and develop with a different team. I hope to play a part in getting that first win for the Rocketsports' Champ Car team and Tagliani," added Ma, who has contributed to the career-best years of the last three drivers he has worked with in open-wheel racing.
