Justin Wilson (#9 CDW / RuSPORT Ford-Cosworth / Lola / Bridgestone) finished officially in 14th at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, after colliding with the wall in the last turn on the track while running in fifth place. - Wilson currently sits in second place in the 2006 Champ Car Driver's Championship, tied with A.J. Allmendinger with 248 points, 62 points behind the leader, Sebastien Bourdais. - In 2004, Champ Car's last visit to Road America, Wilson qualified in 9th place, but improved to 7th by the end of the race while driving for Mi-Jack / Conquest Racing. The 2004 Road America pole was won by Bourdais, with a time of 1:43.046, and the race was won by Alex Tagliani. - Road America was the site of an on-track incident involving Cristiano da Matta (#10 RuSPORT Ford-Cosworth / Lola / Bridgestone), during a Champ Car Open Test on August 3. Da Matta collided with a deer that had run onto the track, and sustained a severe head injury. He continues to recuperate from his injury at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah, Wisc., just an hour's drive from Road America. RuSPORT will not enter the #10 Champ Car in Sunday's race at Road America, marking only the third time in the team's Champ Car history that it will compete with only one car. - CARA Charities and the Champ Car World Series will produce two events during the race weekend to raise money for a CARA Charities fund created to assist in da Matta's recovery efforts. On Friday night, a silent auction of racing memorabilia will be held by CARA Charities. On Saturday evening, RuSPORT, Road America and volunteers from the Tour de Road America will host the CARA Cruise for Cristiano, a recreational bike ride around the track for fans and drivers from Champ Car and the Champ Car Atlantic Series.
