The fast and flowing layout is not for the faint-hearted and even after the first day of testing on Thursday May 24, which was a half-day of track activity before a full day of testing on Friday, was flagged as a favourite by Team Australia drivers Pagenaud and Power. Power was sixth on the first day as he tested new parts from gearbox manufacturer Hewland, while Pagenaud was one place higher in fifth fastest. Day two saw Power and Pagenaud sixth and seventh respectively, with the Team Australia duo only half a second behind the fastest time of the weekend set by championship leader and defending champion Sebastien Bourdais.
