Team Australia's Champ cars glistened underneath the Lone Star sky as they whipped around the 1.7 mile Reliant Park street course for the Grand Prix of Houston which took place on Saturday, May 13th. source: teamaustraliamotorsport.com Not only was it a racing weekend for the team but it was a winning one as they proudly took home the 'It's All in the Finish' Color and Design Award along with the $10,000 cash prize presented by Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes- the Official Automotive Finishes Sponsor of Champ Car. The team's #5 and #15 cars powered by Australian Will Power and Canadian Alex Tagliani, both amazingly tied for the award. A team of Sherwin-Williams Automotive experts went around to each Champ Car and Atlantic Series Car to determine which had the best use of color, design, gloss and overall appearance. Houston was the second of eight presentations for the 'It's All in the Finish' Color and Design Award. Kicking off the weekend in their newly painted cars, Team Australia's body shop manager and his assistant Robert Cox showed their remarkable talent as they re-painted the team's cars after the Long Beach race, using the newest brand of automotive finishes by Sherwin-Williams, Planet Color. With the highly reflective additives in the paint mixed with the unique Aussie Vineyards green and yellow paint scheme, made for an extremely brilliant look that gleamed underneath the bright lights of Reliant Park.
