Toyota has decided to drop out of the IRL IndyCar series after 2006, leaving the open-wheel series high and dry in favor of going stock car racing source: paddocktalk.com Yet, they thought it was important to critique the 2006 IRL IndyCar schedule. The Press-Enterprise is quoting a Toyota motorsports manager who said, "I'm quite disappointed that between the Indy Racing League and ISC they couldn't arrive at satisfactory dates in the second-largest media market in the U. S. to continue having the race. For sure, we're not pleased about it, and I can't imagine Honda is too pleased." The PaddockTalk Perspective: Once again, where are the huge crowds in that second-largest media market? What did previous races at Fontana get the IRL or CART for that matter ? Maybe someone should remind LA and Toyota that the United States biggest sport (the National Football League) doesn't have a franchise in the city... and they seem to be doing just fine.
