The times tumbled, and the records kept being broken during practice for the London Champ Car Trophy, round four of the Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford source: cart.com Paul Tracy (#3 Player's/Indeck Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) set a new fastest lap of 37.263s (115.160mph), then brought the red flags out to end the session when he spun exiting Druids Hairpin, taking off the front wing of his car. The Champ Cars were a spectacular sight on the hilly and challenging Brands Hatch Indy course, and the drivers are enjoying the track, and the sunny weather. Times are predicted to still get faster as more rubber is laid down. Sebastien Bourdais (#2 Newman/Haas Racing Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) was the first of four rookies in the top 10, lapping in 37.493s (114.453mph), just a fraction ahead of Alex Tagliani (#33 Johnson Controls Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) with a lap of 37.511s (114.358mph). Bruno Junqueira (#1 PacifiCare Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) made it both Newman/Haas drivers in the top 10 with a time of 37.605s (114.112mph), just 0.002s faster than Darren Manning (#15 RAC Walker Racing Ford-Cosworth/Reynard/Bridgestone) who had set the pace in first practice as the drivers got their first taste of the Brands Hatch road course. "It's great fun!" said Manning. "The track's still a bit dirty after all the rain these last few days."
