Alex Tagliani has had certain victory cruelly
snatched from his hands on more than one occasion in his Champ Car World Series
career
source: cart.com But the veteran Rocketsports Racing driver spends more of his current time powerwashing the deck of his Las Vegas home and refurbishing his 14-foot karting trailer than he does worrying about what might have been on the race track. Not that the circumstances surrounding the near-misses at Homestead, Rio de Janeiro and Montreal aren't seared into his brain, but the 31-year-old Tagliani has enough good things in his life to keep him from being consumed by regret. The French-Canadian has a seat with one of the most promising new teams in the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford, has the satisfaction of having built himself a racing career on the strength of his own resolve, and most importantly has found someone that he enjoys spending every waking moment with in his wife Bronte. Tagliani grew up in Montreal, where the names Lafleur, Dryden and Gainey were more a part of a child's vernacular than Andretti or Gurney and he took the preordained Canadian path, playing hockey among every other sport he could find. His father however, gave him a peek at the world of performance cars early in his life, taking the young Alex to his shop where he worked on BMW and Porsche street cars as well as racing engines. It was with his father where Alex got his first taste of the race track, joining him on club racing weekends at nearby circuits.
