The Cadillac of crossovers - really
It used to be that Cadillac was the benchmark for just about every other car company. In the glory years of the Eldorado and DeVille (post-WWII era), these exceptional automobiles were considered as design and engineering icons. Unfortunately, they failed to stay at the top of their game over the next few decades and the proud Cadillac soon became "your grandfather’s Caddy."

Smartly incorporated in this "window into the future" styling are a number of delightfully-subtle design cues from Cadillac’s past.

Fast forward to 2010 and it’s amazing how the brand has come full circle. As innovative and distinctive as its original ancestors, the all-new Cadillac SRX leaves no one indifferent. In fact, this vehicle puts on quite a show wherever it goes. The exterior design gives the impression that the SRX is always in motion even at idle. I love it!

Smartly incorporated in this "window into the future" styling are a number of delightfully-subtle design cues from Cadillac’s past, led by the prominent vertical taillights which mimic the famous tailfins of the ‘50s and ‘60s.

You want some contrast? Try the available 20-inch seven-spoke aluminum wheels with their faceted design and glittering Chrome-Tech finish. From a quality standpoint, though, some may find them more befitting of a Chevy.

At last a proper interior!
The cockpit of the first-generation SRX was basically a carbon copy of the CTS sedan. It felt a little weird inside, which is why the company made some key mid-cycle changes. This time around, designers clearly took inspiration within the family, namely from its GMC Terrain and Chevy Equinox cousins, and they applied a genuine Cadillac treatment.

Stylish wood inlays add flair to the interior layout. Complete with chrome accents and refined leather surfaces, the materials illustrate how conveying a true sense of luxury and sophistication was fundamental in the design process. When you sample all the sportiness and classic flavor inherent to the new SRX, you realize just how successful the brand’s recent evolution is.

Power-adjustable seats, pedals and steering wheel allow you to find a fantastic driving position. Cadillac definitely deserves praise for offering such comfortable seat cushions, which are heated and ventilated by the way. They’re surprisingly firm at first, but they quickly grow on you, especially during long trips.
