As reported last Thursday, the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) crowned the two best vehicles in the country during a special ceremony at the 2017 Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto.
The 2017 Canadian Car of the Year is the Volkswagen Golf Alltrack, which beat the Hyundai Elantra and BMW M2. This small German wagon is so competent and versatile that it also won Auto123.com’s 2017 Sub-Compact SUV of the Year award.

As for the 2017 Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year, the Subaru Forester defeated the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC and Chrysler Pacifica. This compact Japanese SUV is fresh from a mid-cycle update, and last summer we headed to Alberta’s Rocky Mountains to put it to the test on some craggy ground, muddy country roads, and open highways.
