Speedweek becomes the centre of the motorsports and custom car worlds for 7 days each year. The event opens on a Saturday and runs through to the following Friday. Unlike the typical racing event, the first 2 days have the highest attendance of racers and spectators. As the weekend winds down, most of the public return to their jobs after a few days on the salt and the hobbyist race teams also make their way home.

  • Auto123.tv photographer Liz Leggett took a shine to Bobby Green's new ride.
  • Bobby Brown of Old Crow Speedshop has been sorting out his latest project for the salt, an old style single seater.

  • Bonneville is famous for its eclectic classes of competitors.
  • This is the Charlotte Special, a 2010 NASCAR Nationwide car with a 358 cu. in. Chevy SB2 V-8. The car is owned and driven by Robert Blakey of Houston Texas.

  • A Tucker replica built by the Ida Brothers of New Jersey was on hand to support the return of the Gyronaut X-1 streamliner motorcycle. The aerodynamic bodywork for both was designed by Alex Tremulis.
  • The Tucker replica was constructed for an upcoming movie and has a fibreglass body on a modern Chevrolet chassis. The original Tuckers were rear-engined, the replica has its motor up front.
  • A very salty old hot rod.
  • Salt and pinstripes decorate a 1932 Ford hot rod.
  • Navarro heads were a popular aftermarket item for the Ford Flathead V-8.
  • Louvers are punched in nearly every race car and hot rod at Bonneville. Originally done to ventilate hot air from the cars, they are as much an iconic style as they are functional.
  • The unique profile of a chopped 1932 Ford 3-window coupe, one of the latest cars to come from the Rolling Bones of Saratoga Springs NY.
  • A typical scene on the salt a lone Ford roadster highboy (fenderless) cruising along.
  • It has been said that any type of vehicle can be seen at Bonneville and this may be the best example at the 2013 race. Britt Palmer of Englewood California is driving this 1977 GMC Motor Home with a 502 big-block Chevy.
  • The original Tucker cars had rear-engines and these grilles led fresh air to the radiators.
  • Some interesting characters check out a Model A Ford hot rod.
  • Rat rods have made their presence known in recent years at Bonneville, with creative details and unusual engines.
  • The art of the louver, by Lee's Metal Works on the Buzzard Boys competition coupe.
  • The Buzzard Boys are typical of most race teams, with a long list of dedicated volunteers who help build and service the car at the track. There are very few professional teams at Bonneville.
  • A beautiful recreation of the famous Pierson Bros. 1934 Ford competition coupe owned by Jim Richmond of Loveland Ohio.
  • The extreme top chop (lowering of the roofline) is done to decrease the aerodynamic drag of the car.
  • A fun Ford runabout.
  • A 1932 Ford 3-window coupe hot rod in primer paint.
  • A nice 1947 Chevy built by Max Graham from Colorado.
