3. 1940 Chevrolet
When the 1940s came around, pickups were still confined to the margins of the automotive landscape. For the most part, those who bought them got them to fill very specific needs. No pickup truck of the time offered anywhere near the comfort level of a car. Nonetheless, the first few signs of attention to design became apparent on the Chevy truck, which was growing increasingly popular.
As we mentioned, most owners of pickups at this time were businesses, and this period photo is an eloquent example of that.
