Incidentally, this '67 DeVille is nearly fully equipped. The only missing potential goodies here are front headrests ($53 in 1967 dollars), cruise control ($95) and a remote trunk control ($52). Those handles you spy on the doors are linked to the quarter windows which rotate open. At the time, this car had a sticker price hovering around the $5,600 to $5,800 range.
The fact that the car is nearly 45 years old didn't hit me as hard as I expected. Other than the dismal brakes, the drive is pleasant, to say the least, and I've got no qualms with the power other than the big V8's mind-numbing thirst. I estimated an average of under 10 mpg. Ouch.
This Cadillac is the perfect embodiment of what was great about the '60s, and I'm glad to say that there's a wonderful member of that era at arm's length – so long as it remains at that distance, because I'd go broke trying to keep the tank full.
Thanks Bob!
