The interior of the Limited version is incredibly sharp. The dashboard is not of the very deep style where one can loose his sunglasses sliding toward the windshield. It is short and round and the instrumentation circled by chrome rings is so easy to read. Radio and HVAC set in the middle are also easy to manipulate. What impressed me was the quality of assembly and the great look that brushed aluminium inserts gave to the interior. The Liberty can seat five people and give a good rear cargo space. To get to that space, the rear window pops open first and the lower door swings open to the left. The space tire that rides on the door does not interfere with visibility.

The real test came during the first Quebec Jeep Jamboree in late June. In a Jeep Jamboree, there are difficult trails that can really put a Jeep to work. I spent a full Saturday at Mont Glen in the Quebec Eastern Townships to try out a white Jeep Liberty Sport (the Sport version has black bumpers and wheel openings) with a full black cloth interior (no aluminium inserts here). It would be the real test for the Liberty as my tester was equipped with stock Goodyear Wrangler SR-A tires. There was not much mud on the trails but enough to put the Liberty to test. The results? I found the Liberty as agile as any other Jeep in the trails. The only problem I had was landing on a small rotten tree stump that got caught in the middle of the right...A-arm! Exactly what "real" Jeep aficionados were afraid of! But such a situation might never, ever happen again!

As far as I am concerned, the new Liberty is a real Jeep. And at the price DaimlerChrysler Canada intends to sell the vehicle, no doubt it will be a major success on the market. I have yet to try the four-cylinder version since it was not on the market at the time I tried the V6 Liberty. But as soon as I am able to, I will tell you more about it!
