"Airflite is the ultimate expression of functional art," stated Trevor Creed, Senior Vice President of Design. "It is designed to offer true functionality in a beautifully-designed exterior and interior package that is as exciting and as elegant as any coupe on the road."

Personally, I love the direction Chrysler is going with its new cars. Many industry pundits forecast Chrysler would lose its design edge when Tom Gale retired. They've been proven wrong with the Crossfire and now the Airflite, not to mention the impressive lineup of concepts most recently introduced in L.A. and Detroit.

Like the majority of those, the Airflite gets the brand's new HEMI V8 powering the rear wheels, the same configuration as in all the upcoming LX production cars. Its automatic transmission is shifted via the acclaimed AutoStick manu-matic, well suited to Europeans being that it is near identical in operation to the Mercedes-Benz gearbox.

Its massive 20 by 8.5-inch front and 21 by 9-inch rear 7-spoke alloy wheels on 235/45R20 front and 255/45R21 back tires should make for impressive grip, especially considering the car gets a fully independent suspension front and rear, with the latter most likely the 5-link setup borrowed from sibling Mercedes.
