As Smithbauer said the exterior receives a shiny coat of Liquid Silver Metallic paint, that compliments the Gunmetal Gray alloys perfectly by the way. The Lightning's roofline was chopped slightly in order to give it that lowered, hunkered down look. Sharp creases arc around the pronounced wheel openings, cut in half by angular sill trim that ties in nicely with the lower front and rear fascias. Just aft of the front wheels engine bay air exhaust vents cut into the metal producing yet more aggression, only overshadowed when viewed from the front where a bulging hood displays twin nostril-like air intakes. All in all it's an ominous looking truck that should have no problem intimidating slower traffic out of the fast lane.

So is Ford teasing us or will this super-truck, based on the 2004 Regular Cab F-150 Flareside, make it into production? According to Craig Metros, F-150 chief designer there's no reason that the next Lightning couldn't appear just like this concept.

"Modular design lends itself to special editions like this," he said. "Changing details such as the front grille, the side body panels and interior trim transforms the truck. The result is a specialized, high-performance model, far from being just a wheel-and-tire package."

One thing is for sure, Ford will build a new Lightning off of the 2004 F-150. That settled there's no reason the Special Vehicles Team couldn't make it look as hot and perform as 'cool' as this concept. Keep your fingers crossed.
