So, what's the verdict? If you want a well built, fully capable 4x4 with style and versatility then the Liberty Renegade is probably the better choice of the two. When you factor in the price gap your decision becomes more obvious. Still, I didn't start this review with a two model comparison in mind. There other compact SUVs that offer low range gearing and are therefore suitable to tackle more serious terrain than running the kids to school in a snow storm. The most capable of its true competitors is probably the Nissan Xterra, while the Suzuki Grand Vitara and Kia Sportage are also in the running.

If it were my money the Liberty Renegade would get the nod. It offers the most complete package of well rounded attributes for the best price going, and looks sensational.
