The SSR arrives only fully optioned, including numerous power assists and automatic climate control. However, Chevy has focused on a wide range of dealer installed accessories to customize and personalize the SSR. Over the next four years, Chevy expects to offer consumers nearly 50 such accessories, including a cargo-area speaker system, head and tail lamp treatments, power remote cargo cover and engine beautification packages.

This isn't a truck for everyone, but for those who can afford it and are looking for something 'fun', the SSR will be a hit. (Photo: General Motors)
The emergence of everything retro has been highly successful for those who have done it right. In my view, Chevy has done it right with the SSR. Sure, this isn't a truck for everyone; especially considering its practicality is marginal given that only one passenger at a time may enjoy the cruise. And with a sticker starting at five bucks shy of $70 grand, only a lucky few will have the financial backing to legally acquire a set of SSR keys.

But that's not the point. The point is that the stuffed shirts at GM stepped out on a limb and allowed the creative minds at Chevy to run free. The end result is an awesome looking, functional street-rod who's DNA will trickle down and find its way into the bread and butter products consumed by folks like you and me.
