Additional safety features include adaptive front airbags, side curtain airbags, two-stage belt force limiters and ESP stability control. The latter, specifically programmed for this model, does its part to keep the chassis in check if driven beyond its capabilities, and every car has a gravitational limit. Also to keep it within the bounds of the lane ahead M-B has added 18-inch twin-spoke polished AMG alloy wheels on low profile performance tires. An AMG-developed four-stage Airmatic air suspension, complimenting a 4-link front and patented 5-link rear suspension components, smoothes out the bumps while maintaining composure at a fast pace, while rack-and-pinion steering has been tuned to optimize the car's sporting potential.

Of course it wouldn't be a Mercedes-Benz without luxurious appointments. The E55 carries over the majority of E-Class interior styling cues while making a few otherwise optional features standard. Four-zone climate control, a 12-speaker Harmon Kardon Logic 7 audio system with 7-channel surround sound join the usual E-Class offerings of high-quality soft touch plastic surfaces, authentic wood trim, chrome accents and power everything. A few E55 exclusive features include special AMG gauges and sport seats finished in nappa/nubuk leather upholstery. Mercedes-Benz has also recently become a leader in interior design, a pattern that was set by the current generation S-Class and now has filtered down to its lesser models.
