After two days behind the Magnum's wheel, tested in various engine configurations, I can find little to fault it. Its interior is tastefully laid out and made of extremely high-quality materials, while its spaciousness and functionality is first rate, offering a dual level compartmentalized cargo area with storage underneath the removable and reversible folding floor panel, the latter

featuring carpeting on one side and a washable vinyl on the other. The ingenuity of the liftgate is unparalleled, with top hinges set farther back into the roofline than any competitor, needing zero additional space behind the rear bumper to be opened. It can also allow taller items to be transported if the liftback is tied down in the open position.

Displaying impressive practicality, superb build quality and unprecedented performance for its budget oriented price class, the Magnum should find a lot of enthusiastic buyers when it comes to market this spring. Rumors of a 4-door sedan variant are running rampant, but for me it would be the functionality of the Sport Tourer that would have me signing on the dotted line. It's truly that good.

After all is said and done it can be had for a mere $27,995 and in top-tier RT trim, only $36,995. The price goes up if optional equipment gets added on, but not by much. And the extras include UConnect hands free communication, a GPS Navigation system combined with an AM/FM radio featuring an integrated 6-disc CD/MP3 player, as well as SIRIUS Satellite radio.

Fully optioned out it's a premium sport wagon, capable of taking on the best in the industry. The Magnum is a sure winner.
