There are other benefits aside from its power and refinement too. Fuel consumption is less than that of the regular V6 model- I averaged about

13 L/100km in combined city, highway and off-road driving. Real-world highway driving saw mileage of 10 to 11.5 L/100 km. Unlike a hybrid 4x4, the alternative diesel engine option is less than $2000- meaning long term fuel savings for less. I don't know of any Hybrids I'd feel comfortable driving through a four foot deep puddle either. In my week with the CRD, diesel averaged about 10 cents per liter less than regular gasoline. Additionally, the diesel equipped Liberty suffers less of a performance penalty when towing a heavy load. With just shy of 300 pounds of torque moving its four-thousand-plus pounds of metal and plastic around, motivation is adequate. It's not going to make much of a getaway vehicle, though passing and merging power is better than expected.

If you don't plan to take your friends or family into the wilderness on a regular basis, the added [link url="http://www.auto123.com/fr/autos-occasion/guide-securite">safety zone provided by the Liberty CRD is still second to none. Between the 4x4 modes and the standard ESP with ERM (Electronic Roll Mitigation), the Liberty's go anywhere attitude is kept in check electronically at all times. Snowstorm? Use the all wheel drive. Nice sunny afternoon? Crank up the tunes and share them with the world. Road washed out by a flood? No problem.

If not only for its off-road capabilities, equally impressive is how well the Liberty handles the real life stuff. Let's be honest- most of its life will be spent on highways, parking lots and side streets. While there, it brushes off its macho 4x4 attitude and minds its manners very well, though the respect-commanding look of a confident crawler is ever present.

I had completed my mission. After logging nearly 1500 kilometers, the Liberty had shown me what it was like to be a Jeep owner- keeping up with my busy schedule from nine to five, and providing me with a reliable and confident companion for after work recreational activities on any type of landscape.

With the class exclusive engine, decades of off-road experience and a 5 year 100,000 kilometer warranty built in, the Liberty CRD is a viable, fuel saving alternative to a hybrid SUV that can actually go off-roading, and a piece of hard working, cutting edge technology that's tough as nails.
