Visibility is excellent all around, the outside mirrors are big, and there are numerous storage spaces spread across the cabin. There is also several power outlets in case you want to go nuts plugging in stuff like an air compressor in the cargo bay, a laptop in the back seat, or your cell phone battery charger up front.

In back, there is plenty of space for three adults, although the one sitting in the middle might feel a little uncomfortable because of the fold-down armrest. The rear seatback is split 60/40 and its angle is adjustable. There are also ventilation controls back there.

Cargo space is huge. I packed up my family's belongings for a week at a cottage, and everything miraculously fit in back. The tailgate's glass can be opened separately, so you can continue filling up the rear even with the tailgate closed.

The Endeavor's all-wheel drive system proved quite competent during a brief trip off the road. The high ground clearance helps clear rocks and trail ruts, and the truck didn't mind at all being bruised up in the bushes.

The Mitsubishi Endeavor Limited AWD costs $42,698. This test truck includes the $1,400 leather package, which totals $44,098. That's not cheap, but it undercuts the Honda Pilot EX-L by a few hundred dollars, the Nissan Pathfinder LE by a few grand, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited by about $5,000. The Mitsubishi isn't quite as powerful as the others, and doesn't offer 7-passenger seating. However, none of those other trucks have the Endeavor's 10-year/160,000 km powertrain warranty, which brings extra peace of mind.

With its rugged good looks, a competent powertrain and plenty of interior space, the Endeavor deserves more attention than it's currently getting.
